Paper Mate Pens

Knocked this out this morning just for fun. I wanted to see how quick I could get a whole project done from start to finish. It took about four hours from modeling to rendering. Once again it's all NURBS. I'm rendering off some different environments as we speak, so I'll post them later. Comments welcome as usual.

dang dilbert ....that is fast and looks really good ...was you just born to model or just over time ... geeeez ...

would love to see you make a tutorial some day

Thanks man. This was actually a pretty easy model though. Lots of cylinders, revolved surfaces, and symmetry etc. The trick I think is to get real familiar with all the tools and shortcuts, which speed things up greatly.

Here's a second render, with just a little depth of field. I like the rich red color as it sets off the bright mtealic highlights. It's amazing how just changing the floor can alter the whole feel of an image.

As for making a tutorial, I'd love to, and will some day. Problem is, I looked into what it would cost to get all the software I'd need to do it, and it was around $1000 to actually start producing DVD's, which for now is out of my price range. I'd want to do a video tutorial as it just takes way too long to explain steps in writing, and also it just gets confusing for the person who is doing the tutorial.

And one last render. This one is a nice clean studio render for product visualization.

make a new thread and submit it to the gallery. I'm sure they'll put it on when they get it back online.

Here's the last render for this project. I think I like this one best. I usually don't like too much reflection, but I think it works for this surface.

i really like the last render ....the best also

MattTheMan 19-05-2006 10:53 PM

That last one is the best...

How did you do the clip part at the top? Cylinder, vertice adjusted and mirrored? or did you extrude and adjust?

dilberts 19-05-2006 11:35 PM

Esion, I used the extrude tool. It's the only way to go for stuff like that.
