My First Character in Maya, crits please
 

Hey everybody!

I just decided it was time to do an organic model. I'm not sure what it to call it other than "Ned". I think I might need to rework the eye sockets a little? And of course the eyes are not done :D.

I am going to learn how to animate in Maya, (that is what he is for :D). I am going to put some textures on him after I get the eyes done. Any more suggestions would be great.

Now he has eyes! I will be working on textures next.

Funny little guy

Hey.. are there any good tutorials on setting up a character rig in maya? I'd like to animate my little guy eventually :D. I've found some, I'm just asking if you recommend any in particular.

I'd recommend Mike's ones from this site.

I like your character, will he be getting eyelids?

Yeah... I wasn't going to put eyelids originally but he looks scared or surprised without them :D.

So after I finish reading up on the rigging process I am going to go ahead and set him up with some eyelids. It will give him more character.

Here is an update. If this doesn't look good let me know. I still have several early versions of him saved. Hehe.

eh... to tell you the truth I think I will redo the eyelids but I just want to know what you guys think about adding eyelids to him.

I like the eyelids...

one suggestion to make his face more acceptable and detailed... add 2 little holes in the middle for his nose..do not make an actual nose, just 2 little holes
