Hi guys Im new to the forums and need a hand, Ive modeled this gun emplacement and want to create an animation of it firing, and Im not sure how to keyframe fire to appear/disappear when the gun is firing any help would be greatly appreciated

Create a particle emmiter, set it up so that you get nice fire how you want it, then just keyframe the number of particles to emmitt.

Should do it.

You might need to have only one frame that the emmitter emmits on with a very large number (say 1000 or something)
