Since this is a place we can talk about anything I wanted to know how to create my own computer programming language and Google isn't helping. if you guys don’t know then o well thanks anyways.

I would learn Pascal as it seem to be the root of most programming languages. And then just get creative.

robbiedobbie 28-06-2007 08:26 PM

um ok but i dont get it what do i do after i learn it i am talking about creating my own.

robbiedobbie 28-06-2007 08:30 PM

There are SO MANY THINGS that you will need to understand to make your own language. You should just do as most others and build on what is.

robbiedobbie 28-06-2007 09:16 PM

wow i asked how to do it can you just give me a web link please

oldhippie_tom 28-06-2007 09:26 PM

A web link to learn how to create your own programming language? You have to have a base to start and learning Pascal will be it.

I think you do not have in mind A PRGRAMMING LANGUAGE, but a program that will run under another language. Sorry I miss understood.

robbiedobbie 28-06-2007 09:29 PM

uhm ok thanks

robbiedobbie 28-06-2007 09:30 PM

oh and about that hp commercial what program did they use

oldhippie_tom 28-06-2007 09:39 PM

I am not sure. Maybe someone else will.

robbiedobbie 28-06-2007 09:40 PM

ok thanks anyway

I hope you can find what you need. Sorry if I seemed rude, didn't mean it that way. Just threw me when you wanted to write your own computer language and didn't know what Pascal was. Again, sorry if I came off rude.

robbiedobbie 28-06-2007 11:56 PM

its ok thanks for the info

Create your own language?

Like so many complex things, if you have to ask, you're not up to it. Sorry to be blunt, but there you go.

If you don't know how to program at all, you're wasting your time. Hell, even if you can program really well, its still a big task.

Besides, what for? What problem is your own programming language going to solve? Is is a specialised language for a certain task? Chances are its already be done or can be done with existing languages.

And I wouldn't bother with Pascal. C/C++/C# or Java would give you a better grounding in modern programming techniques.
