What system would you prefer, if...

you were about to start learning Maya? Mac or PC? What is the industry standard?

I know the Mac -vs- PC thread is out there some where....I just can't find it.
I've used the search and scanned old messages, but I can't find it.

FYI. I'm an art director for a publishing company, and I've been working on a Mac (Photoshop, Quark, etc.) for 14-15 years.

Thanks for the help.

pc :)

Well personally i prefer the PC but if your happy with the Mac i see no reason for you to change over at this point.

I'm sure there will be lots of Mac and PC users in here exalting the virtues of both systems but at the end of the day its hard enough to learn Maya without at the same time having to move into an OS environment your not comfortable with.

David :)

What you need to do is try all systems (mac/pc) and see what suits your own preference. Don't just listen to what people say, you really need to try them for yourself, there are pros and cons for all systems and at the end of the day they are all very similar anyway.

By trying both system, I chose the mac

If your know mac keep with MAC. If I was able to get a new computer I would get one of the new g4'S. PC are good too but I find MAC more stable.

Let's just put it this way.....you can build a PC and smack down every MAC out there.......MAC's look sleek and sometimes are more stable....the interface is cleaner etc......but when it comes to hardcore performance, a PC will smack a MAC down hard......trust me.....hehe.

PC all the way

Those are a couple sites plus I found several sites from MAC users who are "In Love" with their macs........I don't love my computer I push it to it's limits.....always making it perform.

I'll pit a PC against a Mac any day.....Bring it on!!

My name is Saiyan.....and PC's rule!!!!

PC vs. MAC

At work I prefer the MAC...for Photoshop, Illustrator work it's ideal...searching for ages to change the Strg. and the Alt-Key on my PC for better workflow on my PC at home.......

For 3D i'd prefer a PC...Linux WINNT...Everything is better than OSX at the moment
