09 Camaro

Decided to start an 09 Camaro along with Mayaniac. Hopefully we will both learn from this process.

Started with the hood which i fleshed out in polys and its still in its poly form. I consider the hood to be completed as there are no more components for it, just needs smoothing for the final version.

From the hood i went to the bumper and again fleshed it out in polys.

I stopped at this point to really plan out how i wanted the mesh to go as it would define my mesh going into the 1/4 panel and i didnt want to have any problems with the sharp lines and holes for the lights/grill or foglights.

After i planned out the mesh a little more clearly i finished the bumper and moved on to the front quarter panel.

The bumper still needs the grill/lights/foglights to be completed but i will add those after i flesh out more of the car.

i finished the 1/4 panel with no problems but the door took a while. Ill try and remember to put up a wire of everything soon.

The door actually has depth and door handle and such incase i want to make it open for any reason. So if i feel like modeling the interior its one less step(plus i think it makes it look better when modeling)

Ive taken a day or so to plan out the rear 1/4 panel but while i do i will start the sideskirt.

I think the sideskirt and rear 1/4 panel to the beams over the window and around the windshield are all one piece if im looking at it right so it i might have more Work in Progress pics as im working on them.

thats a pretty bad image. heres another a little darker.

The colors are just a quick way for me to see what layer everything is on and where pieces seperate.

I decided to smooth it and put on a simple shader(i plan on texturing this a little more fully than past projects).

This was only a test and it now back in low poly form.

What do you think?

Argh, theres that horrible Gold again ;)

Your modeling is looking very good so far. You have allot more experience than me, but i guess i can make the most of that.

I like the fact that you got your Fog light holes in early... though good luck getting the crease to run through them ;)
I opted to model them in later, as to maintain they're integrity, and to also keep a realistic crease. I look forward to seeing how you go about solving this.

Anyway, like you were saying in my thread... the rear end is going to be a Royal pain in the a$$
I'm actually looking forward to trying to figure it out... i hate it when it's just a simple Procedure all the way through the model... is nice to be challenged... so when you do figure it out... your better off.

Anyway, really nice start. I look forward to seeing this progress.

I'm not going to be Updating for a couple of day, simple because i wont have anything to show. I have a really busy Weekend ahead of me :mg: But i should have something (hopefully) by Sunday or Monday.

Have fun

Its hard to see because of the lighting and angle but there is a crease in the fog light :), careful planning when i was lying out the mesh made it pretty easy.

I was trying to go with a Burnt Orange instead of a Gold but i guess i failed....

Did some work on the side skirt which goes into the rear 1/4 panel.

a bit more done. still trying to get that air intake to blend better with the mesh.

and i think ive finally got it under control but i have a feeling i may have to revisit this part of the car for further tweaking on that air intake.

finished the rear 1/4 panel and started on the roof. Coming along nicely. Most of the problematic areas are done so its just finishing up the rest of the body.

Finished the grill, and just finished the lights and windows but i dont have a shot of that yet.

I think i may do a smoothed test render with some simple lighting but im not sure about the best way to use lighting as ive never really used it any help would be great.
