Make a Quick Rope (Part 1)

1 Attachment(s)
This is a method for making a 3-strand braided rope (or line if you're in the Navy). Starting with a NURBS circle with 12 CVs (divisible by 3 for the strands). Select every fourth CV (3 total CVs selected) and scale/move them to the center of the circle. You should have a clover shape. Select pairs of CVs (one from each side of CV that was scaled to circle center) and scale them to center until they match up. Repeat for the other two sets of CVs. Select the three remaining CVs that define the arc of clover leaf and scale/move them to make the arcs more circular.

Making a Quick Rope (part 2)

1 Attachment(s)
Draw a new curve to be the path of your rope. Preferrably coming from the center of your original NURBS circle (clover). Select the "clover" and the curve then select surfaces-->extrude--Optionbox. Set the option box to match settings below with the exception of rotation. You may need to experiment with the rotation settings to get a look you like.

mchannon! I thought you had died!

Cheers for that, I didn't realise that you could rotate when you extruded.

I've been using the twist deformer on a straight section then moving the CV's to suit!!!

Workflow = Speeded up!!

Cheers
