your most commonly used keyboard shortcuts?
Hey all, just wanted to know what are "your" most commonly used keyboard shortcuts?
I mostly use: ctrl s = save w = move e = rotate r = scale g = repeat last action. * i think. Thanks. |
my spacebar for menus
ctrl h to hide selection yes g (doesnt always work LOL) x snap to grid v snap vert q selection tool qwerty does have functions but cant remember t and y F3 for poly F4 for nurbs ctrl spacebar fullscreen toggle I did set 's' for split poly but use the spacebar or symbol up top and the same tools as you cheers bullet Edit: oh and F1 for help (lots) |
Here's a few I use that I didn't see mentioned.
F8=object mode F9=vertices F10=edges F11=faces Hold down j when rotating to rotate in increments of 15 degrees. Select 1 or more objects you want to isolate and then press Shift i, then to bring everything back, deselect everything and press Shift i again. Select an object and press f to frame in on it. Or press Shift f to frame in on it in all view ports at the same time. Cntrl d=delete history Edit: oops, I meant Alt d= delete history..I use ctrl d for duplicating. |
aaarrrrrrrrr forgot the 'f' for frame..didnt know it could frame in all views...cool mate

q,w,e,r,t,y,p,a,f,s,d,x,c,v,b,F8,4,5,6,g, insert...etc
Ctrl+g -group, Ctrl+G ungroup (I think) p, P - parent, unparent Ctrl-H is unhide last hidden I think (H is something similar) WER -key specific channels d -hold to move pivot point (like insert) >< - grow, shrink selection Ctrl+a - attribute editor My Custom: ? - mapped to hotkey editor!! :) ; -mapped to my own marking menu and quick commands (delete history, freeze trans, centre pivot) Ctrl+O - Outliner Ctrl+Alt+h -hypershade Ctrl+C -Channel box/layer editor @Jay - I believe there's a shortcut for that: Ctrl+Shift+Alt+F13 |
I'm wondering if there's much use for the Ctrl+D shortcut - duplicate special
Seems to me every time I use it, I need to change the options in the option box... it's so specific for the situation. Any thoughts? |
w, then hold dx and MMB on origin for easy snap to origin (have to move mouse slightly)

...alt-d for delete history eh?...was un aware of that one... g-man |
That dupe special key is a godsend where I come from. Why people dont use it I'll never know. You can set objects the exact same space apart without arsing with snapping and guess work. Its very cool for architectural work , for pillars and stuff. LOZ Im surprised you arent a fan, especially being a so called hardsurface guru. That command is in my tool box for sure
cheers Jay |
Sorry, should clarify. I mean the shortcut, not the command. The shortcut will use your last settings, which will rarely be the same twice in a row...
|
If i'm going to space things out the same, I will press shift d, then move my object to where I want, then shift d over and over. I don't use ctrl d for that.
