Final Gathering: first efforts
I'm a newbie to Maya. But, I thought I'd share one of my first Final Gathering renders. Simple scene, with a Surface Shader on a box primitive (which you can see some of) generating most of the light, and some light coming from the Environment settings in the Camera's Attribute Editor.
I noticed there still some artifacting in little areas on the brown post, and some along the top of the blue sphere. If anyone has any ideas as to what settings I should change to smooth them out. I have the Final Gather Rays set at 4000. http://www.nulightdesigns.com/maya/FinalG_Jan27.jpg |
woa, "4000 rays"
lower them , then paly with the min /max values. |
You might want to increase the radius of the FG rays. It does horrible things to rendertimes though!

Thanks, everyone. I will try those tips and see what renders.
