Next tutorial!
Hey, guys, I'm pretty excited about my new tutorial series that will start coming out soon and thought I'd post a head's up for you to be on the look-out for it!
It's a time-lapse video series of creating a low-poly character from scratch throughout the texturing and probably rigging, too. It's still early, but Part 1 should be coming out soon, with part 2 not long after. Here's an image of it at the end of pt 2: http://www.mtmckinley.net/SimplyMaya/modelingvid2.jpg Hope you enjoy it! |
great work mike, this one will be up around the 1st of the month :) great stuff
btw mike reply to this post - it hard seeing you stuck on 3999 post :) |
Big 4000! :D
And Kev at 5000! It's a heated race! ;) Woo! |
You blabber mouths :D
There, I hated that 2013... :p |
hehe looking forward to it MR Mike=)
|
Ill be buying points, JUST for this series. :D Cant wait!
|
Hell yeah!!
Right on bro,, put body rigging in if you can, I'll keep an eye out for it. |
Screen from end of part 3.
http://www.mtmckinley.net/SimplyMaya/modelingvid3.jpg At this part, the model is essentially "finished." However, now I'll be pretty much remodeling a lot of it to giver her clothes and stuff. These first 3 parts were for my own practice as much as it was for your benefit. So, you can expect the next parts to see her become more clothed, pretty much replacing much of the torso geometry and adding a skirt and such. :) Hope you like it! First couple parts should be coming out soon. |
I'll get it just for the References images :D :D ,, sorry,I'm a prv.
|
Gonna be sorta hot tutorial :p Ppl are gonna get it just because of the ref images :D
|
lol
|
lol, sorry, but the reference images won't be available with the tutorial. I'm afraid I don't have distribution rights to them, although displaying them in the videos shouldn't be a problem, legally.
Although, I suppose I could ask to make sure... I'll let you guys know. Just in case, the site in question is www.3d.sk. I know Kev doesn't like advertising, but this site doesn't compete with us. Let me know and I'll get rid of the link, Kev! :) |
can't stress enough the importance of good reference! :D

|
Thanks, guys. :) Oh, if you'd like to see my goal for this character, this is what I'm essentially going for: http://www.mtmckinley.net/sweet_tart1.jpg.
|
is it just gunna be timelapse? or will there be commentary as well? cos that wud really help :D
|
The modeling will mostly be time-lapse. However, the animation and texturing part will more than likely be real-speed, w/commentary.
|
What do'u mean by time-lapse. Is the any commentary on the modelling part.
|
there is no commentary on the time lapse... frankly, even if there were, I wouldn't have much to say. It plays at about twice normal speed. When the videos are up, feel free to ask questions if you have any in the VIP forum.
Even so, most of the stuff the time lapse covers is stuff that has been talked about already in previous videos, such as the head modeling tutorial and the rigging tutorial. When it gets to the texturing, they'll be realtime videos for simplyphotoshop and the animation of the character will be realtime for simplymaya. I know one of the main helps I always remember have been time-lapse examples that artists sometimes display and I hope this one is helpful to you folks as well. |
time-lapses ROCK !!
|
Nice, I am excited.
