Hang on Guys!!!!
GraphicTart says its his first maya piece!! So lets not confuse the issue with GI and HDRI etc. He obviously want that good ol chrome look etc. So what I suggest is a basic lesson, using Maya Software. 1)Put a light in the scene with ray tracing switched on in its attribute editor 2) Check the Raytracing option in your render globals menu. If you want Raytracing throughout the image ie;shadows etc then leave it at default numbers 3) For a good reflection ie; mirror, chrome or whatever a good start is make sure material is a blinn. Turn Reflection to max, Specular colour to max, Specular roll of to max and the Eccentricity down to a point where your hilight is quite sharp and not too spread out. 4) Try a render. You should get something decent. Jango |

Hi guys!
I just want to thank you all for this site, especially for the free tutorials- I have installed the Maya for the very first time two days ago, and with your videos, from the absolute zero level, in about 3-4 hours I created the little movie I attached. It's not much, but I really enjoyed making it. So once again, thx a lot, and if I get a good job in about 3, or 4 years, you bet I will buy all the other tutorials as well. A kid from Hungary. |
that was a good tutorial...thanks a lot

tutorial alternative
darn, I wish I could have seen this. sounds like it was good one. I have found a pretty good online tutorial for GI and FG on the alias community site:
http://www.alias.com/eng/community/t...on/index.jhtml It's pretty long and has good refrence images (may take awhile to fully download due to all the pics), plus the scene files are there to try the settings for yourself. I'm only just starting to look at MR, so if any has other recommendations.... |
very nice!!!!!!
strong! |
thanx

I know this is a little late for comments, but I am quite horrible at lighting. I thank you all for this little bit of advice, the movies/tutorials I will check out as soon I get internet back ( I am using a library computer, so I am not able to download/look at anything... :( ) at my house. Please keep giving advice, I think many people could use it.
