Vehicle: Sea Fang

Ok I got bored of the sandcrawler so here is my latest piece. I've been working on this for 4 days and the modelling is almost finished. Just got some tidying up and poly reducing to do and then it's done and on to uv mapping.

here's a quick crappy FG render

Looking good. I am a bit of an aviation fan myself. I love the ww2 style aircraft.

and a turntable

That is cool. My dad used to have all these planes hanging from the ceiling on strings in our den as I was growing up.
|
very nice ! :)
|
I love it! I'm working on a stuka dive bomber may post it soon.
|
Im thinking of doing a helecopter...
You should either duplicate it, or make another variation and have a small dogfight. |
thats pretty sweet there.. nice. would love to see the textures.
|
textures are coming, I spent last night rigging the bloody thing and figuring out loads of stupid little problems with the mesh. It's not as accurate as I would have like but it will do I think. All I need to do now is decide on the colours...
|
Nice detail. I am looking forward to seeing it.
|
Nice work!

Alan, what the hell is a Sea Fang when it's at home? I've never heard of such a plane... Out of interest did you start modelling this out of NURBS then switch to polys or was it polys right from the start? I did a FW190 in NURBS but it was a bit of a pain.
|
Sea Fang was the name on the blueprints ;) iT kind of looks like a Suez plane that I have in a reference book. Except the other one doesnt have the double prop. I never model in nurbs, it's all polys apart from some tubing etc.
I'll have updates soon. :) Alan |

nurbs are horrible to work with IMHO. I just dont like having to be so darn picky with the patches etc and matching spans. Polys just works out easier in most cases for me. It's just the way I work I guess.
Alan |
I never use them either. I do not like the texturing of them or modeling. Everyone has done a nurbs canyon when you start out. Void of true detail. Start to pull points here and there. I have seen some amazing things with nurbs. they are not for me either though.

cool model , very nice work I love it, im working on a spitfire v model at the moment and am enjoying working with a classic plane, they are so cool.
Its in the wip section so any comments will be appreciated. I started out using curvs and lofts in nurbs then converted to polys. I love this method it rocks. well done |
thanks I havent looked at this in ages, i'm far too busy at work and wit the a10... maybe i'll finish it someday or it'll end up like the tank ;)
|
very good model,
Just a question i am not quite 100% sure i want to commit my self to as i may have it wrong :) :( If there are two prop sets on the front of plane - should they counter rotate? (Like that strange Russian Helo), & if this IS the case then you need to alter the pitch angle one set of blades :) - maybe ? i dunno, maybe i'll just get my coat M |
Nice work! lookin' forward to see it textured
|
yes, some insight into the texturing process for this model would be very interisting.
cheers Ben |
