Aug/Sept - Norm - Pony
 

This first post will be updated with the most current progress and pictures. This is so that new people to the thread will know what to expect by the end.

Concept finished for this, and the mesh is 2 hours of work.


Note. There was a picture of a llama here as a place-holder, hence the llama comments.

This is what I think for color. At some point a bit later a discription of exactly what it is will be posted.

Here is the start, about 2 hours worth. UV's are already mapped but not adjusted. Note this is just half and a very rough draft. Just getting it out in space.

Very nice concept work, I'm sure that getting that much detail in at an early stage will help you later. Good Preperation!

Very interesting colour concept too, really looking forward to seeing how this develops. I know the modeling will be excellent, it's how you texture this that will interest me most. Keep it going mate, very nice work indeed!

One of the feet in mid detail. The cloven split will make much more sense latter when I can show how its used.

Murph, LOL yeah I sleep, really I don't work on it much. Sharing the good computer with the misses until I decide on what to get to replace old Maya workstation (I want to see 3ghz and 2 gig ram!).

Jango, way cool. I like critter work. Yeah looks good for a nomadic rider also. Long legs, for long distances. There will probably be a bit of changes to the mesh with details in, although other parts will be simplified even more. Poly with subD prox in different layer. I subD for renders.

Surfermcd, Thank you. Especially about the concept, its a complement considering your apparent skill with them.

Airworks, I’m not sure if I will do fur, critter was originally conceived with a fine downy coat, but nixed that for more dino. Don't know.. wander what Mike thinks.

ok, Medium detail fleshed out. Still have some tweaks. This render is a bit higher contrast than normal to maybe help see the shape better. Let me know what you think. Still have some things to figure out about the shape.

Looking good! Definitely a very unique creature.

Wow pony, going even better than I thought :D And you still have more than 19 days! One thing I'm wondering though, could you post a top view of the tailpiece and a closeup on the head (not sure if you've finished those yet roughly though..).
This because it does not have the exact charm factor that your drawing has... perhaps something to do with the eye(s)?
Anyway I'm almost unworthy to even think about commenting, you're really doing a super job! :D :D :eek: :D :D

This is real nice stuff, I have one crit now though, the face/head could use some detail as it looks a bit flat especially the mouth area. My 10pence as always!!

uv's stretched out ok. The little swimming is from a couple of Ngon's that snuck in. They will be dead very soon. Back hoofs are not done. Spotted that just before post. Just showing what I was up to.

Jango, No problem, Yes the head can use some detail, I had just gotten the basic form in there. I'll be working on the detail of that next though, so will have some close up's soon. I’m figuring out the fit of the eye

Superb model, really like the look and its characteristics!! Wating impeciantly for the texture now...

I could not resist putting some color on it. I will be putting more detail in to the mesh still. Don't worry. Have some time to do more on this now.
