ok i see a hard shadow on the table. circular in shape, is it coming from the screen? cause it would be more of a straight edge. right now it looks as if something from above is shining on the table, spotlight? im not sure what kinda light you should use for that but i think its called an area light i could be wrong but im still playin with the lights in my own scene so...........

Adding sum more detail to the scene...

Heres is the start of sum CD/DVD cases...

If your going to keep the scene highly lit. Maybe try to soften the edges of the circular part of the lamp. Good work by the way. Low resolution on the DVD. But still very clever idea. Maybe some 1 out there has a digital camera and SM dvd and is willing to help? Or I bet the person in charge has a high res. image for ya. But thats only if your going to make it visible in the final render I guess. Thanks for reading my babbling on.

No alien...

If you have seen all the other picture posts you will have seen the lighting I am going for.

Only this post has the areas light full to see the texturing on the DVD cases. Due to the darkness the images used on the DVDs will not been seen that well, so theres no point overloading the seen with scanned copies of CD/DVD Covers.

The original images were over 10mb each at a res of over 3000, for this scene there was no need to keep it that high. The images were reduced to 800 to allow the scene to be more managable, as I have wroked a lot in this scene with H/W texturing on...

Thanks for the crits m8...

how about some Maya reference books open to applicable pages? Are you still going to put a person in this scene?

publicFunction 12-08-2005 07:36 PM

Real week at character modelling...

The desk lamp light is a little too hard, it would lighten the entire seen a bit more than it does.

Hehe, is that a Simplymaya Dvd texture you have on one of your earlier images? :D That's awesome.

Nice work man!... I'm not use to stuff like this yet so I have to be honest that I was jelous of your work at first but I'm progressing and I should be ready to get in the competitions in the next challenge or the one after :p ...

vedic kings 27-08-2005 08:25 AM

Nice work:)

But I think its too dark.

Anyways good luck!

joed8349 27-08-2005 03:44 PM

I agree with the scene being too dark. I liked some of the images you posted before. They had more objects and detail in view than your final image does now. Good luck.

publicFunction 27-08-2005 05:45 PM

View it in the dark...

It looks a whole lot better :) (imho)
