Cartoon Mike :)

Hi, guys.

I've entered the cgtalk.com challenge this month, and I thought I'd post my wip to get some more suggestions here. It's a cartoon version of me. :)

Sorry for not joining the monthly event here. Hopefully, if I get some time, maybe I can give one (or both gah!) of the SM events a whack. :D

Anyway, here's concept:

I've got the head pretty fleshed out:

I'm working on the body now:

Hey, thanks, guys. The skin shader I'm using is so simple, it's not even funny. lol Well, maybe it is funny... ;)

I've attached it to this post if you'd like to check it out.

You really think it looks '70s? Strange... considering I wasn't alive in the 70s. lol Thanks, though. :D

Kurt 09-11-2002 02:11 PM

Mike if your get a chance I would love to see a wire frame.

Sure, no problem.

Here it is before and after smoothing. I'm in the process of making the shirt not so tight, so the right side is tighter than the left at the moment. :P

I've started the pants. I've changed the shirt color as I didn't want pants and shirt to both be blue. :)

Edit: Clearer pic.

mtmckinley 10-11-2002 03:36 AM

And here's a render:

http://www.mtmckinley.net/cg_toon28.jpg

Going to add pockets, pleats, wrinkles....

Next comes shoes, which might be tough. :P Then, wrist watch. After that, it's detail hunt.

awesome modeling  great work
are you using final gather for the render?

mtmckinley 10-11-2002 04:31 AM

no, just normal Maya render with GI_Joe Global Illumination Mel Script for lighting.

Thanks! :)
