Wow Great start!! What happened to the hockey player? :D
The arm looks a little off the tricep i think. |
look good, i like the head a lot.maybe you should look at some human anatomy.
|
thanks for your coms, im not sure the anotomy is correct either, its pretty acurate to the figurine im copying but whether they got the anatomy correct im not sure, heres an update anyway and more crits and coms are gratefully welcome!!http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2006-...end_07copy.jpg

i actually think you should do more of an anamatically correct model as your first organic model....the alien is a bit unoriginal and wont have many challenging facial features, you can still do something interesting, build someone with alot of accesories like satchels, holsters, guns, back packs, helmets etc to show of your asset modelling as well would be cool. jus my opinion though.
|
thanks :) yea it is quite unoriginal i give it a bit more of a think.
|
another quick update....need more crits..http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2006-...52/rend_08.jpg
|
looks amazing, thats really well done for what you had to work with.
only thing that catches my eye is how long the feet are, specifically the heel part, but it could be right, it just looks off to me. |
yeah just some excellent modeling nothing to crit really...just admire, uve got a good future ahead of u mate.
|
cheers for the confidence booster mate...just finished training in london and could really do with some work :(
|
an update.. heel and legs, neck thickness, head smoothed (even though im still not percfectly happy wiv this yet) and the arms i have now tried to make more anamatically correct to a human and NOT to a plastic figure..lol....more crits and some fresh eye please..http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2006-...end_09copy.jpg

:D |
another update...still more crits welcome...sorry magiscy...ill post a blinn render next week..http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2006-...end_10copy.jpg
|
WOW!! hes looking the business now!!
So good! :D :D:beer: Cant wait to see him textured. |
yeah looks great, one question tho, how did you get the occlusion pass, i would like to find out.
|
yeh sure, please note that im using ver 7 and dont know if the process differs inearlier versions.
make sure your character has a plane below it. create a new render layer select all objects (no lights) and place in the render layer select this layer hold the right mouse button over the layer, > presets > occlusion. if it has worked correctly everything should go black render away. you can increase the quality of the render by selecting the sphere icon on the render layer, select the arrow next to out color and increase samples, 32 or 64 should be adequate. any problems, let me know..hope this helps. |
Thanks a million, all i needed was for someone to point it out for me, i owe you one buddy.
Cheers:beer: |
update, adjusted leg length, feet and hand thickness, rendered in mental ray, im tryin to get to grips with lighting now cos i have problems in this area so would love some lighting as well as modelling feedback...cheers.http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2006-...end_11copy.jpg

hmm i think i may have prefered him with shorter stocky legs they seem a lil stretched but if u were to keep it this way i think his chest looks outta proportion now, as to b4 when he was stocky it looked right. take a look i think u will notice.
As for lighting u will need to get some colour on him really b4 u try lighting and renders on him cause if u get it right b4 then it will all change once u colour him. So get that done 1st pal. :D Good luck. |
i agree, i think the upper body looks a bit squished down now that the legs are longer
|
I like the way your turtle is comming out.I also like the use of your lighting.I am still weak in that department. That does look great though.
|
Awsome Ninja turtle model! No complaints from me. :)
|
lol! nice!
|
looks awesome, I don't know why I didn't see this one before.
Im gonna have to try that occlusion render you explained. I didn't think it was that easy to do, thought there was more to it than that. Anyhow awesome work. :) I think in the movie coming out, they're gonna use character designs like this. And by the way, I got bumps all over my body and it itches! I don't know how chicken pox looks like, but I don't think its the pox...anyhow im itching like nuts so gonna end it here.lol |
yea that is one nice occlusion render. I usually use the preset one but it never looks that nice lol. Great modeling
|
ah ha lol thats why lol I use a point light with mines lol ill try it without a light
|
ha.. i love this. looks like clay, reminds me of wallace and gromitt clay style.
