Interior- My house

I will be working on another interior scene now! (cue for Mirek to jump in:p)

This thread at CGTalk definately inspired me. http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=355390

I will start modeling tomorrow. I am aiming for the same realistic results, but with Mental Ray ( I can't afford VRay for 3ds Max :() But possibly I might export it and render it in Indigo with 3ds Max.

I have a tendancy to skip modeling and go to rendering very fast (is why my old interior render in signature is so... empty :p)

Anyway- stay here, and I will make this (if I can keep concentrated long enough:p (no I am not ADD, I just get bored of working on the same thing for several days))

Later,
Matt :alien:

gohan1842 09-05-2006 11:32 PM

Looking forward to see it.

I am also going to be making an interior here soon.

That's what my Desk Chair wip is going to be a part of.

I really don't know much at all about rendering (more of a model person), so I'm sure I have a lot ahead of me.

Changed this from my house to Myhouse- Modernistic Furniturized (thats cuz I think that now, looking at my house's furniture, that it looks very old... :p its not, but it has oldish looking bright wood and no metal stuff)

also, looking at Indigo 0.5's speed, I will render it in Indigo and Mental Ray.

Indigo is SO EASY to set up, all you do is create a physical sky and make a light for the sun, specifying it as sun, it makes a perfectly lit sunny day lighting. (bout the same as area light outside of each window in Mental Ray technique)

WIP 1- 20 minutes

Glass Coffee Table

I made some funky looking modernistic chairs

MattTheMan 14-05-2006 12:42 AM

I am rendering an Indigo now, just because I don't feel like modeling more now. I will post the pic in about 2 hours.

lol, forgot to change some mats, but heres a quick Indigo for ya!

gster123 14-05-2006 05:37 PM

looking good so far man, no crits.

arran 14-05-2006 05:52 PM

yeah - nice work MattTheMan. I just might make the table a little higher so they don't bash their knees. ;)

well, its a coffe table though. I dont know, I might make this a sunroom??? Another render with a contemporary furniture item in the back. ALso, the materials are right now. I am rendering one with night-time light (from lights)

Unfortunatly... Indigo can't render colored glass yet, or the new furniture's glass color would be green-ish, and the cofee table blue-ish.

Thanks for comments though, guys. ANd feel free to C+C.

Here it is

pbman 14-05-2006 06:44 PM

lookin nice - once u populate the scene a bit more it shold be nice

MattTheMan 14-05-2006 07:03 PM

thanks- I am adding stuff now and am gonna render soon.

My materials didn't export to indigo, I don't know why...

But here is me "populating the scene a bit". The lamp things in the corners will have to be redone, they look like crap :p

mc-fleury 15-05-2006 02:21 AM

looks good even if the render is very grainy. what is indigo...a render engine like mental ray...

keep updating!;)

Joopson 15-05-2006 03:31 AM

Some Guy 15-05-2006 06:59 AM

looks great Matt :)
Could ya post a render that isn't as grainy cause it is makin it hard to see all the detail.

MattTheMan 15-05-2006 11:54 AM

thanks guys

yeah, I'll have to let it cook longer to get a less grainy one, but yeah

and Indigo is a free unbiased renderer.

Cant really crit as its a bit hard to make out what things are etc because of the lack of materials, like you said.

MattTheMan 16-05-2006 07:44 PM

ok, I am rendering one with mats now.

Joopson 17-05-2006 10:20 PM

only 1 crit... the wavy thing in the back is leaning to the left... And the room looks a bit cluttered at the moment... BUT it is still a good job :)

MattTheMan 17-05-2006 11:46 PM

thanks joopson! Well, the table is a modernistic (a.k.a. ugly) furniture peice that actually looks like it "defys gravity" (or that's what the designer said, in the magazine I found it in) :p

But you are right, it is a bit cluttered. I think it is because the chairs look like they were abandoned. I will fix! Also, the lamps, the lamps, the lamps. They look like crap. I just have to redo them.

Thanks for C+C joopson!!! I really appreciate it!

Joopson 18-05-2006 12:11 AM

oh, ugly(modernistic) furniture does look like it kills giant waffles(defys gravity?).... lol......lol......lol...........lol;)

ok. This is semi-final. Need to fix a material or two, and need to render for longer (5 hrs here)

C+C please before I get to the final

Joopson 21-05-2006 11:55 PM

i love it! not one crit from me!

MattTheMan 22-05-2006 12:41 AM

thanks Joopson, but I hope you know that even if you can bash this scene as BADLY as you can, I would really appreciate it, and it would really help.

A guy on the Indigo forums c+c'd it, and I will soon be adding:

•Window Panes
•Electrical sockets, cables, etc
•A lamp on the bottom shelf
•A different light angle that illuminates scene better
•A Less Clear Sky

Joopson 22-05-2006 12:48 AM

i suggest you add something on the coffee table, to add a point of interest, at this point my attention is everywhere, so add a vase or something on the table, lol......

and maybe some light coming from the lamps, that would be awesome:attn:

MattTheMan 22-05-2006 01:29 AM

thank you Joopson!!!

magicsy 22-05-2006 06:16 AM

the materials look nice matt. nice 1 for having a go with indigo. i think its a little grainy and blurred i wouldnt mind a mental ray render and see the diference :D

MattTheMan 22-05-2006 12:04 PM

I dont have the time to set up a Mental Ray :( Indigo is so easy to set up, just select the position of the sun, and render!!

arran 22-05-2006 12:27 PM

still, a different render would be good to see, just so we can make out some of the objects a bit better.

Also some scenery outside the window would be good as well - at the moment the room looks like it is floating in space.

Good work though - all of the objects fit together well - even that low coffee table. ;)

MattTheMan 22-05-2006 12:34 PM

lol!

Yeah, I will be adding a background. I am rednering now an evening scene, with the light from the sun like from a sunset, to better illuminate the room. And yes, I will add an outside. Thanks arran!

MattTheMan 22-05-2006 09:54 PM

now different sun angle- render for 9 hrs. Got 1550 Mutations Per Pixel in Indigo.

PP: Noise reduction in Photoshop.

Terminated early... my final will run for a full 14 hours on 2-3 machines.

C+C as always

Joopson 22-05-2006 11:15 PM

well, my last c+c stands........ but i love the render! where is indigo .5 available? and the maya plugin?

MattTheMan 22-05-2006 11:50 PM

im using 3ds Max- I will be writing the Maya plugin. :D

go to the indigo forums and look for indigo 0.5 test 3. I can send you a few scenes if you'd like to render with 0.5.3

also I am modeling lamp, vase, cords, plug and other stuff too

farbtopf 23-05-2006 12:26 AM

nice living room you have there, everything looks very soft somehow. Do you have those vhairs in your house? Are they comfy?;)

good work man

MattTheMan 23-05-2006 12:50 AM

nah, I dont have any of that ugly furniture :D it looks very un-comfortable  I dont want to model my house because of all of the super-detailed carved marble, and the super-detailed traditional furniture

farbtopf 23-05-2006 12:59 AM

yeah, they look like you would slide right off if you'd try to sit down. But it is a bit confusing since the thread say's my house. Having some traditional furniture could be interesting would be something you don't get to often in CG -probably because of too much detail work to do

anyway nice room, nice render I meant to check indigo out, but somehow I've got a feeling it's not available for mac...

MattTheMan 23-05-2006 01:02 AM

I said, in the first post that I wouldn't model my own house, but nobody reads the text :p

about Indigo- you're too right... :( oh well.

farbtopf 23-05-2006 08:58 AM

uuuups blush:blush:
