Reflection problem
Hi guys.
Trying to make my Mech stand on a kind of reflective floor. Any help or ideas? Phong, Blin any presets for those nodes? Made about 50 renders but i just can't seem to do it? is it in the material you set the reflectivity? or in the light? or in the plane? thanks for helping me out here! Gr. M. |
Muahahaha
Nevermind. I found it. just tried to put on Raytracing Quality the option in the render Settings. Magic. olé. pics on http://files.czar.be/booya |
Use a blinn, as they are best for reflective surfaces even with raytracing.

Hm
I used an anisotrophic, and the mirroring is quite sufficiant no? Gr. M. Monday I'll try with a blinn |
That's quite a detailed mech you've got there. :)

Yeah Thanks...
Iwas just posting on reply on your oceanship. Not bad att all man. Like I said, it gave me some ideas to finetune the Mech. :) Think I'll make some clay renders before going on to texturing it. It's funny but... I kindda like Clay renders, maybe evenmore than textured ones. Anyhow, thanks and looking forward to see that animation! |
Looking forward to your finished mech as well :). As for the clay renderings, I know what you mean. Sometimes I make such unrealistic textures, that the clay render, through its omogenity, looks a lot better.

good one
Hey cut, N1 one matey, looks the dogs, I agree with the others about clay renders, probably why I don't do so much texturing as I should do. It would be nice to see that rendered though, perhaps with some battle scars.
Is there an animation forthcoming? Well done Wraithe |
Had no idea anisotrophic could be that reflective nice find.

:::Modeling Update:::
Small update on the personalising of the Mech.
http://files.czar.be/booya Also played around with the clay renders a bit. And 2 questions: 1. I have posted this issue before but never really got a satisfying answer. I have a small library of .3ds files, and want them to be opened in Maya. Instead of re-exporting the whole library in Max to an importable format, i am seeking for a MEL-script or a plug-in (i'm on MAC!) to be able to import .3ds files. i have tried to download the bonus tools at the AREA site, but the downloaded file "orient ToTool.mel" is 24k, and after having placed it in the approriate folder (remind me please wich one that is...maybe I got the wrong 1?!)... nothing happens in the plugin manager. So NO luck so far on that subject. 2. I assigned a Lambert shader to all my meshes of my model, is there a FAST way to "unassign" the material to my meshes at once. Or do i need to manually retrack it from each mesh separate? Any help muchly appreciated. Thanxs. Good week-end to ya'll. M. |
you downloaded the wrong file obviously in the area.
there are a lot of bonus tools file name on that site. i almost got confused myself. http://area.autodesk.com/tags/listing/238/ u can RMB click on your shader to pop up options on shader assignment |
OK THANKS.... I 'LL CHECK IT OUT!
oops capslock ;) |

Like I said, I'm on a mac so Vladimirjp, your link wont cut it. :( I retried to downlozd the Bonus Tools Update 2 for Mac but when I unzip the file it give me the orientToTool.mel (24k big). Even if that were the right tool? were do i put it? PLEASE, i'm getting desperate! Thanx M. |
that things legs would have to ge movin pretty fast for it to stay balanced
|
Gee thanks for the info!
Not quite sure how to interpret that. The model will be textured THEN rigged and THEN animated Until then it has lead feet and won't fall over at all! Any help on the mel part acid? |
