Hello. Unless you can tell me another way of signing off, then I am stuck right now as speedy. I am at work and I can't access my cookies on this computer. so I can't clear them. Well, anyways, I decided to get an early start on my environment for this months contest. while I am at work. I did this during my lunch break, so I have about an hours worth of work involved, but there is allot more to come (including the Santa) so its not so evil...yet. Let me know what you think. I will update when I get a chance. Thanks,
Brian

Speedy 10-12-2002 07:25 PM

I Know the colors don't help at all (I am going to change them) but the style of Modeling that I am going for is going to be similar to Nightmare Before Christmas. I will be posting an update shortly.
thanks
Brian

Here is the latest version, decided to mess with the shading, thought that this was interesting, let me knw what you think. THanks,
Brian

BabyDuck 10-12-2002 11:07 PM

it is like a black and white film. i would not want to live is such a wicked house.

oh and one thing, can you stay with the rules and makes the pictures please in 600x440 ?? kind of hard to see otherwise.

and keep up the great work

Speedy 10-12-2002 11:07 PM

Thanks ducky. I am going to ad christmas lights, around the house, they are going to be in color :) But I might just make the light bulb glow instead of actually making a light for each one, make take a while to render. lol. I am also going to ad a wreath on the door, it wil also be color. Wait till you see my Santa :), it will probably be one of my better characters.
Thanks,
Brian

Speedy 10-12-2002 11:08 PM

Yeah, sorry about it, just wanted to make one big so you could see some more detail. a apologise about that. I will continue to make my update images smaller. THanks,
Brian

BabyDuck 10-12-2002 11:13 PM

no problem. i dont mind big pictures, but some people are on 800x600 screen resolution - and for them it would be nice to have pics at most 600 pixel. and in the guidlines of this challenge is something about the 600x440. so not my idea ;)

and if you worry about the detail, keep some surprises for last shot ( i think it will be again in 1024x768) - and you can make a blow up of a detail if you want to show how great the nose hair of santa is coming alive :D

hey guys, I made a few updates on the scene last night, and I made a few extra objects in the scene on the deck. I had a short storyline/animation, and these were all going to be involved in the animation. Now I am starting on the lights. THanks,
Brian

here is the bbq with the chair, the chair looks huge, but that is just because of the camera angle... Thanks,
Brian

Speedy 11-12-2002 04:28 PM

here is a close up of the chair... I am thinking about making santa out of cubes, that is except for the outfit, make that in nurbs, and make it in color, thought if I would make him have a boxy style if would match the scene better, but then again, it may just make it look cheezy. Well, let me know what you think thanks,
Brian

Great shadow work.

Speedy 12-12-2002 01:46 PM

Thanks Guys, I am working on my character right now. As long as its Christmas related, does it have to be Santa? Everybody seems to be doing something santa related. Please let me know. THanks Guys,
Brian

Speedy 12-12-2002 01:58 PM

my scene has changed from a Nightmare Before X-mas style, to a Beetlejuice style, and my character is starting to take a Return to Oz style, almost like a robotic wheeler. :)

I am thinking it looks better in B&W instead of Color. What do you think?
Brian

BabyDuck 12-12-2002 03:07 PM

i think the colored version is better. and if you can make them look like christmas tree balls, would be awesome.

Speedy 12-12-2002 03:29 PM

1 Attachment(s)
yeah, I was going to give them the same colors as the ornaments on the tree, so it looked like those. Here is an update, with the wires, (for the x_mas lights. now I am going to work on the Head. Hmm....not sure what I am going to do for that yet,
thanks for all of your input,
Brian

thanks,

NitroLiq 12-12-2002 04:26 PM

Damn, dude! Yer on fire! I think I like the character without a head at all....that could be an interesting animation where he gets head for x-mas...twisted...;)

Speedy 12-12-2002 04:29 PM

I agree. I like it better with out a head, but after sticking him in the scene, I don't really think he fits very well at all :( :( Kinda the wrong style, Guess it's back to the drawing board or make some major modifications, maybe its time to throw him in the bin with the rest of my unused scenes/models. thanks,
Brian
I will keep you posted,
