You better make the plane of glass or some other transparent material otherwise all that internal stuff is a waste :p
Good stuff indeed! |
maybe he plans on blowing the crap out of it in an animation and having all those parts fly off!
|
Si, dude,
You starting to loose it??? Thats one detailed model! You gonna texture it? |
Nice!!
We should have a model of the month forum!! This would get my vote for all the lovely sick detail!!!! Si, this is very cool my friend, well done. One small question...are you going to uv it?:bandit: Jay |
cheers mastone
hehe, good idea DJBlazer ;) I think I'll do some cross sections and cutaways to make sure that the detail is seen Neostrider - if that was easy I would definitely have a go Steve - its getting a little crazy but I'm learning all about the different plane parts ;) Cheers Jay :) that'd be quite a good idea to encourage people more UV'ing? not for the internal parts lol! there's just too much so some generic shaders will have to do :D For the external skin however, I think that'll get a UV treatment Quick update but not much added really as I've been hunting for better refs of where and how the fuel tanks are set in the wings. The outermost little box is where 2 lights sit The next box in is where the browning machine gun will sit The next box in is the outer fuel tank (I think) Then the inner box (just inside the wheel section) is the inner fuel tank. It just needs some struts going up the wings and the flaps and the blocky bit at the back of the wing sorting before its time to move onto another bit (cockpit?) http://www.flash-fx.net/3D/images/pl...wing_parts.jpg Simon |
that's a dinky assed fuel tank... even if it was on both wings, how long does it fly, 20 seconds?
or is there another fuel reserve somewhere else on the plane? |
hehe, I'm glad you brought that point up NeoStrider. After a little reading it turns out that the mark1 model that I'm doing didnt have the outer fuel tank, just the inner bigger ones so they will be removed and the parts added to the future mark 4 model ;)
- Mk1, range around 950 miles with 1000lb bombload (2 x 140 gallon inner wing tanks - Mk4, range around 1450 miles with additional 2 x 94 gallon outer tanks Apparently with the Mk4 models the additional weight was too great for the plane to land with near full tanks so they had to install an emergency 'dump fuel' option. Here's a reference picture that better shows the size of the tank area - the big gap between the wheel and central part http://www.flash-fx.net/3D/images/pl...ng_section.jpg Simon |
slow going again today, been learning a little about the ailerons (front wing flaps) and how they work.
Here's their addition to the wing. http://www.flash-fx.net/3D/images/pl...m/26_flaps.jpg Simon |
last update for the day - the start of the fuselage framework :)

Stunning work si, is gonna be one hell of a model with this level of detail  .
|
He is even modeling the stuff you don't see anymore:eek: , run my fellow modellers...RUN!!!!!
Just kidding nice work there, do you have a plane like that in your backyard or something? |
This is great!
Amazing level of detail. Gonna be textured and animated and the whole shabang? |
cheers leonlabyk - as long as the computer can keep handling it ;)
hehe mastone, I just got interested in learning how the internals are built and work and its kind of taken off from there :) thansk louis56, it'll be textured and it could potentially be animated - I might even make a stick that controls the flaps/rudder from within Maya (with mel) Here's another update of the fuselage framework http://www.flash-fx.net/3D/images/pl...9_fuselage.jpg Simon |
wow. just wow.
 |
thanks vladimirjp :)
another little update, adding the hatch area for the rear gunner: http://www.flash-fx.net/3D/images/pl...lage_hatch.jpg Simon |
