I found this old sewing table up there, so I will probably do this, in Low-poly (under 5000, anyway ;))

Ill start today, probably

good choice joopson - there's a lot of potential with this model. :)

Zel712 20-07-2008 07:20 PM

Sweet. Have fun with that! Low poly count sounds like a good idea.

added some detail to the foot pedal. Now I'm at 4769 tris.. meaning I have only 231 faces to make the sewing machine itself. So I am going to bump up the final count to 5500, so I can have a bit of freedom with the sewing machine itself.

I started making the sewing machine itself. 4997 tris, so far.

looks wicked so far man, the texture will definately make it:beer:

Joopson 22-07-2008 12:19 AM

thanks!

THX1138 22-07-2008 06:58 AM

Awsome work joopsoon! Will be keeping an eye on this. I have almost found what I'm going to do.

gster123 22-07-2008 04:28 PM

Progressing really fast Joopson, like usual in your challenges!

Joopson 22-07-2008 05:28 PM

thanks everyone, I will make some tweaks and then start the dreaded UV mapping :-\

Zel712 23-07-2008 10:04 AM

Dreaded? Nah, mapping that thing is gonna take a while, but it should'nt be too hard.

BennyK 23-07-2008 03:25 PM

LOL, but I think it's the editing of UVs which is dreaded... mapping only takes one push of a button ;)
As Zel said, It's not supposed to be too hard. Good luck with that one.

mtmckinley 23-07-2008 04:34 PM

looking really nice

Joopson 23-07-2008 05:37 PM

Joopson 27-07-2008 12:19 PM

Haha, bloom will definitely destroy that… :D

Joopson 30-07-2008 11:53 AM

ooh, SM was down for while. I'm gonna set up lighting, and then start texturing... (yes, I am stalling :p )

keithd203 01-08-2008 11:46 PM

Very inspiring work Joopson. . . . well done!!

Joopson 02-08-2008 04:18 AM

thanks, I'm not done yet though! haha... ugh, I guess I'll UV map it today.... as much as I dont want too, haha

Joopson 03-08-2008 09:42 AM

ok, started UVing, and layed out an awful mock-up texture, haha

arran 04-08-2008 02:04 AM

yeah - that texture is looking a bit garish.. :)

really loving this piece though - good work mate.

Chirone 04-08-2008 02:20 AM

the metal frame looks great, looks like it's already taken damage

or is that just because Maya saves jpegs as low quality?

Joopson 04-08-2008 04:17 AM

Thanks, the frame is just a cast-iron texture I made, and cast Iron always looks old and ruined, haha.
But yeah, I will start the REAL texture today, but probably tomorrow ;), haha

THX1138 07-08-2008 03:55 AM

Very nice progress Joopson! How about some closer shots?

Joopson 07-08-2008 03:57 AM

I'll get right on that when I get back from camping in 3 days, which should be awesome!

Joopson 12-08-2008 06:27 PM

camping was amazing, except for the 12 hour hike, so now I need to get back to work, haha....
I'll update soon

Joopson 17-08-2008 11:57 AM

Ok, back to business, I've been busy lately with some stuffs. Here is a bit more texture work, but it is still crap ;) I haven't done anything to the sewing part itself, but I improved the wood and added hinges and made the cast Iron more visible.

BennyK 17-08-2008 03:25 PM

Try increasing bump depth for the wood a bit. Also the iron texture looks stretched where the geometry's flat, and the edges there need to be softened I think. the sawing machine needs a lot of work but the model itself is pretty good... Waiting to see more progress on this.
