Thanks.

Here's an almost-orthogonal render, not the greatest quality due to lack of render time.

honestdom 03-11-2008 10:45 PM

that looks great, i like the camera angle.

For DJBLAZER

Do you know how to fix this problem with maxwell. I really want to get to know maxwell, it renders amazing. Here's a screen print of the error I am recieving.

DJbLAZER 04-11-2008 07:02 AM

That line is nothing to worry about, it's a bug in Maya 8.5 that causes it and has no effect. IPR rendering doesn't work with Maxwell by the way.

So since you seem to have it installed properly, you just choose maxwell as renderer and render.

murambi 04-11-2008 09:45 AM

this is absolutely amazing too bad you on maxwell as my interior renders really suck(mental ray) woulld have loved some advice

banksta 04-11-2008 09:35 PM

dj blazer I chose maxwell as the renderer and tried to render but it just uses mental ray.

DJbLAZER 05-11-2008 04:55 AM

Maybe you setup Mental Ray as the default renderer? What happens if you choose software render? Does it render in Mental Ray then too?

found the problem. I didn't have the software for the standalone renderer installed just the plug-in. Now all I need is a good tutorial how to use Maxwell. I rendered out a piece yesterday but it was grainy looking. Any place to find a good tut for maxwell DJ Blazer. By the way thanks for all the help so far.

banksta 05-11-2008 08:54 AM

DJ Blazer: I was wondering when using maxwell materials when you uv map a object does it work the same way maya does. How do you pop in bumps and so forth. I really need a tut now, I am really excited to see what I can produce now.

honestdom 05-11-2008 09:06 AM

just so your thread doesn't get totally hijacked...

is that a typical Swedish bath? it looks rather cool having the taps on the wall.

DJbLAZER 05-11-2008 10:06 AM

@Banksta: The grain disappears when you let it render long enough. Increase the time in the render settings, because the default is to stop after 5 mins. There's a lot of tutorials here: http://think.maxwellrender.com/ and the pdf-manual is pretty good too.

@hammer.horror: Having the taps on the wall over the tub is the most common thing I would say. I mean, if you only have a shower, where else could you place it..?

honestdom 05-11-2008 10:21 AM

my bath in London has the tap attached to the tub, as does my mum's bath in Scotland

DJbLAZER 05-11-2008 12:34 PM

Yeah I know, I've seen that too, but what if you don't have a tub, just a shower - where is the tap attached then?

honestdom 05-11-2008 12:54 PM

oh sorry i get you, yeah its on the wall if its just a shower. I still like the design of the bath.
