Finished the mask apart from eye glass - front part gets ripped off in the story hence me modelling the noise and mouth area- it was also a lot easier shaping the mask with them there

Well got the bulk of him done now
Need to add small details here and there but quite happy with the result as a whole - well apart from the shoes which I am about to go and redo and the pipes going to the back of the mask. I also changed the arms a little as I thought they looked too mirror image. Not bad for 3 days work I think anyway http://www.ravage3d.com/images/Hazmatt/2_6.jpg |
Looking good tweetytunes, The hand look a little small could be the angle. some thing like that would take me a week good going.............dave

Good looking out - but it does seem to be the angle.
Oh and why do you have a bronze medal on the bottom for the avatar challenge when you won it - it should be gold man |
Right - first I stole my shotgun from the adventure hero challenge from here, that I did not finish and removed the scanner from the gun so its a separate item (but part of the story so its all good).
http://www.ravage3d.com/images/Hazmatt/2_9.jpg http://www.ravage3d.com/images/Hazmatt/2_10.jpg Had another go at the pipes (happier with them now) and the shoes (still not 100% on them). I also gave him a bit more of an ass - as some people thought it was flat http://www.ravage3d.com/images/Hazmatt/2_8.jpg Still need to do the following things before starting uv`s ... Glass in mask, Zips on suit, Patched up rips in suit, details on armband and details on air tanks. But going to leave it here now until I finish trap Jaw from the horror challenging as I just not happy leaving him unfinished. |

looking great! I love the shotgun, looks awesome!
Wondering, how are you smoothing your character? I have been highlighting what I want to smooth and using 3 and rendering with mental ray to smooth my models, don't know if there is a better way so I'm just curious as to how you do it. |
Building as low as possible and pressing 3. The trick is getting polys where polys are needed. Don`t get me wrong these are not game models but 100`s of poly`s are not needed iva - so adding extra lines here and there to keep the shape when smoothed does not hurt. The other thing is quads, quads, quads. Anything else just looks wired when you use the pressing the 3 option. After that its just rendered with metalray (at the mo as I have looking at other options)
