Here's mine. You should really try the vertical windows bar; it's quite a space-saver. And I don't like clutter on my desktop. The photo I took in Kenya of wildebeest "stampeding". They don't actually do the Lion King thing, that's another Disney myth.

bullet1968 18-01-2011 02:18 AM

So do I get a Gold Satr Stamp David? for having the most crap onscreen LOL. I admit I dont like clutter but I do so many plan and image revisions during the day I couldnt be bothered...at the end of every week I clean it to half what is there...damn stwert you have just shattered my alternate reality..

stwert 18-01-2011 02:55 AM

Well Bill Gates included a My Documents folder for a reason...
nah, only joking bullet, it's just personal preference.

This is my Non Maya account desktop. On my Maya user account I usually use my current project as my desktop image.

Here's mine.
I have a 2 monitor setup, but there's no point posting an image of a plane wallpaper for the reference monitor.

Ozgalis 19-01-2011 01:44 AM

Is that Shadow of the Collosus or what ever?

Yeah, but to me it was just a nice HD wallpaper.

bullet1968 19-01-2011 04:55 AM

LOL stwert...yeh it was a good idea but my work folders for CAD are seperate and there are around 30 jobs in that and each one has probably 30 files or more in each....and when you have to rustle up a DWG or something else it gets even more complicated LOL...so to the desktop it goes and when Im done I move or delete....otherwise I wouldnt get any setout done. Like yours perfecto...very surreal and peaceful..

cheers bullet

I change mine every couple of days or weeks, depending on how long it takes me to get bored of it. Here is the one I have now

BeAstMaSter 19-01-2011 06:20 PM

here is my current; 2 of 4 screens which change every 3-5 minutes from a folder of over 4000 images :)

http://66.92.45.210/desktop.jpg

@Perfecto, where did you get that image?
I like, and would love to add to my collection

Mayaniac 19-01-2011 11:12 PM

4 screens???

And I thought I had a sweet setup! :(

BeAstMaSter 20-01-2011 12:42 AM

dunno Mayaniac, as a home system would be kinda hard to top mine:

dual 6 core Opterons
16 GB DDR3 memory (8 GB per cpu)
dual GTS 450's
4 Acer 24" widescreens
3 80GB SSD's

I like to tinker ;)

Shit the bed!

I like to "tinker" too. And if I had a boat load of cash behind me, I could probably mop the floor with you and your system... :help: but as it stands I work at my local supermarket.

So, do you use your system purely for 3D/Graphic stuffs? If so, would love to see what you're kicking out!

P.S My monitors are bigger than yours! :D but that's about all I've got!

bullet1968 20-01-2011 01:37 AM

Holy crap Beast!! that is just uber badarse...wow...that would mean instant divorce for me if I took that home...I can afford to go and buy one right now....but I couldnt afford the money for a new house to live in...let alone the operation to remove my foot from my eye socket!

You really have to buy your own market steve...and let the slaves do the work whilst you tinker!!!!!

Yeh I agree with steve...I would like to see the work you can churn out with that puppy!!

cheers bullet

BeAstMaSter 20-01-2011 02:18 AM

I'd really love to see what I could churn out too :D
am/have been trying to get the hang of Maya for a while now
have been following several of the tuts but highly disappointed in the copycat of the tut movements.....
As I think I've got the basics of the tools, and as a cabinetmaker by trade
am gonna try to model some of the furniture I've built.......
maybe it'll get me the inspiration to finally get the hang of maya

As for the system, it's custom built by myself, and I didn't spend any more than some would for a good Mac ......... but I got a better PC :D

bullet1968 20-01-2011 02:47 AM

What do you mean by copycat in tut movements mate?? Im curious

Cabinet maker eh?? If its as bloody good as your PC mate...well what can I say...bloody hell LOL

cheers bullet

BeAstMaSter 20-01-2011 05:05 AM

copycat meaning I have the tut open on one screen with maya open 2 others
follow the tut move by move ........ that's not me, I get no satisfaction.
right now I need to concentrate on modeling and texturing, which I'm just getting started with......
as for cabinets, dunno, I think I'm good ;)
pieces have been published couple times in designer magazines
judge for yourself (turn your speakers down)
http://66.92.45.210/

the 1st cabinet in the display is the one I'm going to try to model & texture first
(don't mean to hijack this thread)

murambi 20-01-2011 06:06 PM

Damn awesome setup but why gts 450 ? 40 dollars more and you would have a gtx 460 and this things scales really really well

BeAstMaSter 20-01-2011 08:10 PM

at the time I built this murambi, the 460's weren't out yet
will probably build another around summertime, will see what's available then.

tweetytunes 05-02-2011 01:45 PM

Yer my pup Penny (Alsation) - that was her at 4 months - it was a year ago now - much bigger now but just as cute - and a big softy. I just love that photo of her

Chirone 25-02-2011 08:46 PM

wait... huh? how'd you go from four to two? or was that four different screen shots of your desktop before?

tweetytunes 25-02-2011 09:30 PM

it was because I had changing back grounds - 1 screen 4 wallpapers changing every hour - now I have 2 screens 5 wallpapers changing every hour

Ok I had a clean up...I felt embarrassed by soem of the clean screens...so I have now created a desktop Folder and put all of my crap in there...you all made me feel so dirty....

Here is a shot of the old...and now the new screensaver. This is a little girl saved from the floods in Queensland...I will keep this photo however as it is pretty heart stirring...a big strapping Army boy carrying a wee girl to safety...good our military arent just for killing things.

The new shot is my boat from the Feb Challenge...I LOVE the red colour I got out of it...the funky FG gives it a weird patchy look...which I actually like a lot.

cheers bullet

so now I am cleaner....ok?

stwert 01-03-2011 02:58 AM

Haha... aw... bullet, you don't have to be embarrassed. Everyone's entitled to put whatever crap they want on their desktop.

bullet1968 01-03-2011 03:07 AM

LOL yeh I know but I have had the missus, my mates and my daughter comment now LOL.....

I got me a new setup now

Here I have a pc... nothing but the recycling bin on the desktop
Attachment 46240

and the newest addition to my room... the mac mini which sits to the left. I now have three monitors and both computers share the keyboard and mouse via synergy.
the mac doesn't always like to play lets-network-with-the-other-computers so it can't see my pc, but my pc sure can see it.
