does the use background shader not work without lights, cus when i render with MR & FG it doesn't seem to be working, it's still there visibly and no alpha mask

ok thanks for the responses, i turned off the primary vis and rendered and got the car with the alpha everywhere else now i just need the shawow pass, how would i go about doing that, i'm assuming...

does anyone know if there is and if so how to set maya 2008 so that when you make a primitive it will auto make as 1,1,1 scale and at origin like maya pre 8.0 does?

yeah when i put the MR shader as the bottom shader in the layers it loses is look, i think even with the decal map having the transparency everywhere but where the decals are maya still uses the top...
