What are your guy's opinions on Maya vs. Lightwave?

I am curious how you can manipulate textures on a nerbs surface other than using projection. Projection seems to warp and distort my textures as it is just "projecting" the texture onto the surface....

How do you render or create an image of your object in wireframe? I tried rendering the object while in wireframe mode yet it still rendered with skin and lighting etc.

well, for the trex and face, i would like to map specific thigs to certain parts of the object. While on the lightsaber I would like to just map a photo of a saber over top of the 3d model I have...

Im confused on how to make a UV map tho...... I cant seem to get them to turn out right.

Can anyone run me through the steps I would need to take to texture a polygonal object, such as a Trex, Lightsaber, and a face? Thanks :)

For some reason, my PC has started to take a while to bootdown, yet I do not know why. Any ideas of what might be the problem ( if it is a problem) ?
