cannot find available port????

New to Maya,

1 major problem -

every time i try and batch render the command feedback reads "cannot find available port". I have searched extensively on ways...

Running maya 6 on a fast machine yet everytime i try and batch render "Error cannot find an available port"...if anyone can help it would be much appreciated.
