I contacted Gnomon about they're DVDs and if they are for versions 3.0-4.0 and they said they update as necessary, so they said there dvds are for 4.5 and 5.0

Also as for quality, it is because of the maya screen resolution has to be brought down so that is why it seems soft, DVD's don't put out as high a resolution
