Try moving the light maybe in the middle of the room and changing the decay rate to quadratic. you will have to increase the number that significantly by typing it in. You can also try setting up light links, I believe there is a free posted tutorial on this subject. Also watch the specularity or "shine" as you put in on the dresser.
