Frankly, his comments are not constructive at all. I would take them with a grain of salt. The comments you should be listening to are those that point out specific things that are wrong with your work and those that offer suggestions on how to fix them.

Also, do not take criticism personally. You have to learn to take a step back from your work and not be so attached to it. If you let it get to you, you will never get anywhere in the industry.
