I'm looking into a cheap laptop too for maya, though I'll only be using it for rigging/char set up/ mel and animating (just joints etc) so i dont need anything super fast. Only worry is graphics card. The nvidia graphics chips only seem to be on the highend laptops never mind.... the hunt continuies
