You given Mudbox a go. I use z-brush for a lot of work but found Mudbox to be very user friendly making it easy to incorporate into your work flow. As far as texturing goes I simply open my uv snapshot straight into photoshop cs to begin texturing. I would begin the process by sculpting all the wrinkles and imperfections on Yoda's face in Mudbox or Z-brush. Then export this as a displacement map and use it as a layer over your uv snapshot to give some depth to your texture map. I would then begin to add more layers and detail to the texture map.
