Another way of making the body would be to draw the outline of it using curves, then bevelplus to create the depth. I've tried that with a les paul shape before and you can get fantastic results in a matter of minutes (including the bevels where the sides meet the face and back of the guitar and the smoothness a curvy guitar needs). Just another technique to add to the maya tool belt.
