If you have problem with your html help files, you could always try typing "help" and the command you're looking for.

Looking at your script, my first guess would be the "^" in the command might be causing he problem.

For text editors, there are actually a bunch out there with MEL syntax hiliting. I, personally, use UltraEdit. If you do a search for your particular text editor, I'm sure you might be able to find a MEL syntax hiliter for it.
