Modeling a Cartoon shaded character?

Hello folks,

This is my first time post here, and I have a question I'd like to ask. Does anyone here know of any tutorial on how to model a character and give it that 2D cartoon look? I don't really have a problem modeling characters, but I would like to know if there are any specific ways to go about modeling a 3D character and still get the cartoon look.

I have recently seen Treasure Planet, and I was immensely impressed with the amount of work done in the movie. It's really a visual treat if anyone hasn't seen it yet. Anyway, I am currently modeling the Captain from the movie, and I am running into problems with getting the character model to produce even lines around the figure. I've pretty much figured out how to go about adding different colors to the model, and I have gone pretty far with it so far. I just wanted to know if anyone has a link or knows any information about creating toon like characters in 3D.

Thanks for reading, and I'll post some links to the current work in progress later.

Here's my site, if anyone wants to look at any of my other 2D and 3d works.
