heh. You could try simulating pages as really dense cloth....

just kidding. Or mostly. Results at this point would probably not be worth your effort. Actually I've heard of this problem/solution before. Try this:

for each 'leaf', create three nurbs lines, of equal length, seperated along the area of the page (one on the spine, one in the middle, and the other as the outside far edge). select from inside to outside, and hit Surfaces>loft.
Don't delete History!
What this allows you to do is, as long as history is on, you rotate (not translate) the outside and middle lines around the 'spine' line. If the middle line moves at a different rate, the page curves. automatically. forever.

That's a basic way. Okay, sure, there's about a thousand or two other things you can do to get automatic curving at certain degrees, and similar things, but you get the basic idea (I wasn't too bad at explaining, was I?).

If you want to have each side of the page be something different, there's a tutorial buried somewhere in the maya help and info files on 'layered shaders'. Can't remember those details.
