Well, for that you can use Mikes tut to achive the liquid feel, then for a splatter, you can check out the docs regarding "GOALS", and just make your "canvas" or parts of it, a goal for a few "hero" particle blobs
Then if you need the "drip" action, just decrease your goal weights to slowly release controll over your splatter particles, and gravity should take over thus giving you the "slide"
