dave_baer: yeah i am realizing many of those kinds of mistakes now that i look back on it... this is my first time attempting modeling anything resembling a human with edgeloops and stuff. i did the hair that way because i was just playing around i thought it actually looks half decent. looking back on it, i probably would have left it out but i think it'll probably be too big of a problem to go back on it. just out of curiosity...how would i have seperated the hair from the model of the head? when i first did it, i tried selecting all the faces and using edit polys > extract...i thought that would make it a seperate object but it wouldn't let me assign it to different layer so i guess it didn't do what i thought it would. how would i make it a seperate object for the sake of hiding/assigning different layer/ texturing?

here's the final product..untextured of course. i am trying to put together some semblance of a portfolio for grad school so i don't know if i'm going to have time to really get down and dirty texturing this before the deadline (january 31, and i got a lot of other stuff to put together before then)
