Steve when you extract the footage from a RED ,as well as the Raw file it also makes you a couple of lower res versions so you can play with say the 1 or 2 k version to set up what you need and then just exchange the 4 k on the final comp or edit. Also try using REDCine free from the Red Site for the the edit before saving out for post.
