looks like you're getting somewhere, which is good!
when you do the wireframe screen shots do wireframe on shaded (the menu is pointed out in GecT's last picture)
hit 5 or 6 to get one of the shaded modes and the wireframe will appear on the model and be shaded 
that's a "Ch" pronounced as a "K"
