Rendering errors with RenderMan

Hi everyone!

I’m posting this request for help, after some time spent trying to fix a problem I’m having with the training course “Introduction to RenderMan for Maya” from Digital Tutors.

The issue is quite peculiar and I’m quite sure that there is indeed a problem with the sample scenes provided with the course. However, I still do not understand why some particular errors only happen when utilizing the RenderMan renderer.
I’ve noticed that all the tutorial scenes are using file paths for textures that refer to a Z:\ drive, which of course does not exist on my workstation. As a result, despite the fact that I’ve correctly set all the file locations in the project property window, I still need to browse my HD for the right texture files so that Maya can render the scene properly.

Anyway, it appears like RenderMan is still searching for some files with no success, since I’m still getting errors in the command feedback area (Cannot find Z:\… etc…)

I was wandering if there is a quick and efficient method to check the file references in a Maya scene. At the moment, I’m away from my workstation and cannot be more precise with respect to the error messages returned when rendering with RenderMan.
Anyway, I noticed that the files reported as missing have the extension ‘ip.txt” (or something like that) after the typical extension .jpg /.tif

Hope to receive some feedbck on this from the experts of the forum.

Thanks a lot,
Mark
