Hi Huxley, Yea, most of that was due to the fact that I created the particles in a separate program and simply relied on the animated spotlight within Maya to do the rest. This is just a preliminary version to show the client and get them to sign off on. Once they say they like it, then I will fine tune it so the explosion matches the blue blob and the explosion has its own light effect on the geometry. Good point on the Specular highlights. I will definitely tone those down. As I get better at Maya I will create the particles within Maya, then the effects will work together more. Thanks for the feedback.
