This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

Alien (new to maya)

Hey !
first of all glad to join this community , this is my first post of somthing I did in maya. I started teaching myself maya (help files and tutorials) about two weeks ago.. and Hope to get some comments on my things user added image

This model is all nurbs.

it´s a good start. I personally don´t like nurbs so very much, but hey, why not start with irrational things? I also learned maya on my own. after 10 months with this software I thought about quitting my old job to have even more time for learning. so I did. you will have a lot of fun with maya, I promise!

I really like your model so far. I think some details in the body would add to your alien, but already he has a lot of character.

I have also heard that nurbs are difficult to learn. I gave up after a couple of weeks and moved onto polygon modelling, which seems to make more sense to me.

I wish I could quit my job so I could focus on Maya.... chance would be fine thing! Oh well.
