We just released a new tutorial; "Modeling Workflow - Poly Plane Techniques" in which Rick shows you how to create a very accurate model of a WWII jerry can with a fully functional cap assembly. It's a great hard surface modeling tutorial and goes over how to create geometry based on poly plane extrusions and get realistic edge bevels in CG amongst many other things.
