Default Rigging a complete model

Hello,

I am new to character modeling and new to 3D in general. I have managed to complete a model using the great tutorials on this site. However, even after researching on the web and looking at different tutorials, I am unsure of the process to "rig" my model.

What all is involved in the "rigging" process. Also, do you know of any exceptional tutorials on the subject.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Regards,
Michael
