Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Skeleton Issues

Hey guys, only a few months before i enter a competition, so im trying to practice up making basic models really quickly, but im having troubles with adding a skeleton to the model i made, for some reason when i raise the arm once the skin is bound, half of the torso stretches and goes up with it, any idea whats going on here?

Looks like you have skin weights of the body that are on the arm... You can fix this by editing the skin weights if its a poly model by painting the weights more using "Paint weight tool" under the skin> edit smooth skin> paint skin weights tool.

If its a nurbs model you can use the component editor and do each point individually.

There is a great tutorial I have just watched here
https://www.simplymaya.com/movie_page...html?tut_id=47
It covers exactly what you are asking (if its constructed using polys)

If you are just after the part that deals with attaching skin and editing the skin weights, then purchase part 4 only...
