Default apache compositing

hi everyone, just come out into the daylight to ask a quick question, ive just rendered out all the passes from the apache tut,i use after effects, and it doesnt like name.ext says it cant parse them.i have to do name#.ext but this means that i cant get the 2d blur to work as a post render opperation as described in the tut.

sorry if all this sounds complicated but is anyone else using after effects?
