Default nurbs help

i have selected the edges forming a box, and i want only that box to be detached, not the other ones that are selected, what do i do?

To help anyone trying to help him, in Rhino I'd create a box without the top and bottom extruding out of the egg, split the egg, and use the box as the cutting object.

Though I think there's something you can do with the surface curves to split it...

Sorry, but when you detach surfaces it cuts along the entire length of the isoparm. You'd probably be better off projecting a curve rectangle onto the nurbs surface and then trimming it.
