slow performance

having some issues with slow windows on 5950U, athlon 2500+

any ideas or suggestions ...

seems like im getting about 5 - 8 fps when working with 2 - 3 low poly objects ... any more and i get frequent pauses.

and 2 or 3 lowpoly objects don't give a very clear idea. If you put your heads up display on. You can tell use the face count. Are they polys ?
