Default help with tutorial

im following this tutorial in 3DM3

here's the link

I need help in steps 15 through 16.This guy's english isnt very clear could sumone please explain it to me?

p.s. i tried posting for help in their forum but no one seems to want to help a noob. i also tried asking my friend with experiance but he didnt understand it.

seems pretty clear to me?

use the split polygon tool to create the edges of the grill work, split again and move the vertices to create the lip in the grill.
